Summary
This lecture focuses on the background, theoretical points, and related criticisms of "Relational Aesthetics", restoring the problematic situation of relational aesthetics based on the economic, technological and political order of the "post-89" world; analyzing the theoretical composition of relational aesthetics based on comparing relational aesthetics with other art and aesthetic theories (such as "avant-garde theory", Félix Guattari's aesthetic theory, etc.); discussing the limitations of the practice of relational aesthetics, based on investigating the ideological battles of contemporary art theorists such as Nicolas Bourriaud and Claire Bishop; reflecting on the relationship between relational aesthetics and contemporary philosophies such as "Actor-network Theory", "Object-Oriented Ontology" and "post-criticism", based on Bourriaud's theoretical system of contemporary art. The speaker believes that the relational aesthetics that emerged in the 1990s is not only a critical discourse of contemporary art but also a huge theoretical constellation, which raises new questions for contemporary semiotics on the theoretical and practical levels.
