Based on cognitive breakthrough and knowledge production, the Lab of Thought is a new exhibiting mode committed to restraining from the “involution” and “densification” of contemporary art. The phenomenon has obstructed the promotion and advancement of the contemporary art that strives to be accepted by society but gets stuck in the stagnation and solidification in the process.
The Lab of Thought exhibition presupposes an all-element dialogue mechanism between curators, critics and artists throughout their artistic creation. The Lab of Thought exhibition selects art critics, experts and scholars from the fields of natural sciences, humanities and social sciences to establish a nomination committee and a review committee. The committee members will nominate participating artists to submit their plans for artistic creations. At the online meetings, the artists must explain the ideas, composition and implementation details of their plans and the committee will review and give feedback accordingly, providing the resources to research and collaboration to help the artists improve their proposed plans. The qualified artistic plans will be published online and exhibited if the proposals are approved by the reviewers. In addition, after the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lab of Thought will select a number of artists to carry out their projects offline and hold physical exhibitions.
